What we really need is an article offering tips about slipping your Christmas wish list to your benighted relatives in between angry political tirades over the Thanksgiving turkey.

1. Scribble list on their napkins
2. Sculpt your mashed potatoes into shape of desired gift
3. After you tell Uncle Jerkweed he's a right-wing maniac/commie pinko, loudly remark that you could relax and spend less time watching CNN/Fox News if you had a copy of [insert name of desired videogame and system]
4. Let it be known that you only get so worked up about politics because you are hot/cold/have sore feet and you're trying to save up for a new [insert desired article of clothing]
5. After your bitterly acrimonious hyper-politicized Thanksgiving dinner, lead your seething family in a heartwarming sing-along of "12 Days of Christmas," substituting the gifts you want for the items named in each verse

It would be nice if we could get past the notion that controversy equals merit. Sometimes you're not "living rent-free in their heads" or "taking fire because your'e over the target." You're suffering well-deserved criticism for saying something foolish or offensive.
It's gotten worse because of Internet culture, no doubt, where "hate clicks count the same." Cultivating controversy as a path to fame has never been easier. The quality of commentary is less important than its ability to provoke adversaries, rally allies, and go viral.
We've reached the absurd situation where people exaggerate outrage, or even conjure it out of thin air, so they can claim to be victims or pose as powerful champions whose enemies want to destroy them at all costs.

Trump himself has a tendency to point to Wall Street for good news about his policies, but he really ought to be phrasing it this way: "Wall Street struggled mightily while Main didn't."
We don't need a little tinkering around the edges of a moribund centralized economy to make investors happy. We need wholesale transformation at the Main Street level - people falling in love with capitalism again and laughing socialist buffoons off the stage.
I was gloomy yesterday about the debt crisis, but if there's one thing that MIGHT turn it around, it would be a seismic movement toward free markets. The demand for small government must increase before a crucial mass of voters will seriously entertain calls for debt reduction.

This is dangerous and a day of reckoning is fast approaching. Unfortunately the American electorate has demonstrated very little interest in doing anything about it. I'm not sure anything less than the leading edge of fiscal collapse will change their minds.
It's a bitter irony that people just don't see the national debt as a "pocketbook issue." For many it's just a partisan cudgel - the Left pretends to care about the debt when it wants to raise taxes, the Right to criticize left-wing spending programs.
But as far as their day-to-day lives go, the bulk of the electorate thinks of the debt as an abstract and distant problem, while any serious effort to control it would have direct and immediate negative effects on their lives, or the lives of dependent groups.

1. If US politiicians really wanted undocumented immigration to end, they'd start locking up the Americans who hire them. The demand for undocumented labor would swiftly end. They never talk about that. There's a giant "Help Wanted" sign at our border and it's not coming down.
2. The majority of undocumented immigrants are people who overstay their visas, not illegal border crossings. Politicians don't talk about this.

The US-Turkey alliance is rooted in the Truman Doctrine backed by significant US military and development assistance in the late 1940s-1950s designed to keep Turkey out of the Soviet sphere, and enshrined by Turkey joining NATO in 1952 alongside Greece. 2/24
Put crudely, Turkey joined up with the US and NATO because of the centuries-old threat posed by the Russian (then Soviet) military and the need to keep economic and military parity with rival Greece. It wasn't out of admiration or shared values. 3/24

It sounds weird but this dog pad is pressure activated cooling power. It requires no electricity and is reusable. (You can also make it RLY cold in the freezer.)

Consider filling a bathtub or bucket/tub with cool water. Dip your feet or entire body in to lower your body temperature.
