Let's assume everything, every alarmist yelp over the last 3-4 decades about global warming is true.

The USA is lowering it's CO2 output faster than required by a pact they didn't sign on to, while other nations (hey China) are simply increasing their output by more than that amount.

What, then, is your proposed solution?

DON'T USE AIR CONDITIONING, KEEP YOUR HOUSE AT 60f IN THE WINTER AND STOP DRIVING AND TAX THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF EVERYTHING THAT USES ENERGY.

Let me rephrase: what is your *realistic* solution?

SOLAR AND WINDMILLS EVERYWHERE FOR EVERYONE AND NO MORE FOSSIL FUELS FOR ANYTHING AND STILL MORE TAXING THE LIVING SHIT OUT EVERYONE.

What if people aren't really keen on this proposal?

WE WILL FORCE THEM TO DO SO.

I'm old enough to remember when people were worried about the next ice age-

THAT IS A LIE. IT NEVER HAPPENED.

Jedi mind tricks work ON the weak-minded, not BY the weak-minded. In any event, the solution has always been the same.

Give the government more power over your life, give more of your money to them and lower your standard of living. The fact that the research they tout as supporting evidence also says that such actions will have minimal effect does not sway them at all.

But sure, let's crater the global economy of the fool's gold of reducing the temperature increase over the next 100 years by less than 1 degree Celsius. The people who haven't starved or frozen to death will surely feel smug about it.

Even if I bought into the AGW scare wholesale, I'd still agree more with The Skeptical Environmentalist. Clean water and abundant food are much more important and pressing issues.

Which would be worse for humanity, global warming of a couple of degrees or entering a new ice age? If your answer is BUT YOUR SUV, put on your dunce cap and go sit quietly while adults continue the discussion.
