The Russian bots are just loving this story. dashboard.securingdemocracy.org Check it out. For those of you who don't know, this is a dashboard that monitors 600 Twitter accounts linked to Russian influence operations.
It's funded by the US and NATO, and people who don't like what it suggests are always attacking its "methodology." But the methodology is basically, "We found 600 accounts that reliably echo whatever line Sputnik and RT are pushing." Not very complex.
It doesn't prove anything, in a formal sense; it just shows you what a collection of accounts that reliably echo Russian state media says at any given time. Some, they think, are controlled directly by the Kremlin; others are run by "patriotic” Russians or Western Russophiles
who reliably amplify the Russian media line. The accounts were selected on this basis well before anyone heard the words "GiletJaunes." So, according to these accounts, what's the most interesting thing in the world today?
How does that compare to Twitter activity in France? Well, these are the top hashtags from Paris. NB: It's not that they've just made up a story about France. There are real demonstrations with real people using these slogans. They're seeking to boost existing discord.
To "accelerate the contradictions," as Lenin put it. marxists.org/archive/lenin/… (Lenin has quite a bit to say here. He's discussing Skaldin's essays titled "In the Backwoods and in the Capital." If you didn't know what had happened during the 20th century,
you might think that Lenin was writing today. If you feel like playing a game, go through the essay and substitute "the people who elected Macron" for "bourgeois enlighteners."
