/6 I learnt of the death of my friend Kok Ksor with huge sadness. Kok Ksor was a great leader of the Degar, an oppressed indigenous people from the highlands of central Vietnam. The French call them the Montagnards. #SamRainsy
/6 Kok Ksor and I considered each other as brothers. We shared the same values of liberty, dignity, democracy and human rights. He supported my struggle for a democratic transition in Cambodia. #SamRainsy
/6 I had great respect and admiration for his brave combat lasting decades for the freedom and dignity of his people, who remain oppressed in Cambodia as well as in Vietnam. #SamRainsy
/6 In 2013, as leader of the CNRP, I signed with Kok Ksor at Greensboro in North Carolina an agreement stating that a future government in Cambodia led by the CNRP will implement the "2007 United Nations' Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples". #SamRainsy
/6 This concerned the treatment of indigenous peoples currently living in the northeast of Cambodia. It was virtually a copy of the UN document that all governments should respect in their dealings with indigenous peoples living on territories under their control. #SamRainsy
/6 I present sincere condolences to Kok Ksor’s family, his supporters and those inspired by his Christianity. I continue to support the peaceful struggle of the Degar for the recognition of its legitimate rights. I pray that my brother Kok Ksor will rest in peace. #SamRainsy
