Folks, please listen: Donald Trump is a lot of things—arrogant, belligerent, narcissistic, dishonest, dumb—but do you know what he isn’t? He’s not the problem. He’s a symptom.

Thread:
For some reason (I’m pretty sure I know the reason) many people seem to think if we oust Trump from office, everything can go back to being hunky-dory.
But the thing is, it wasn’t hunky-dory *before* him. It’s just that liberals didn’t care because things were going mostly fine for *them*.

The problem is that both parties abandoned regular people when Clinton won in 1992.
Prior to that, Republicans typically fought for Wall Street (capital, right wing) and Democrats typically fought for organized labor (left wing). When Clinton got Wall Street behind him, the Democrats became right-wing, economically.
Since 1992 we got NAFTA that shipped good American jobs to Canada and Mexico to increase shareholder profits, the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act allowing Wall Street to take more and more from the people in new and creative ways, followed by endless warfare and bank bailouts...
Regular people were wholly abandoned for capital.

Then this orange dummy comes along promising to get us out of the Middle East. He said he’d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something cheaper and where everyone is covered. He said that!
He said he’d build a wall (which is only popular among his base because the elite - D and R alike - have been skirting their obligations to regular people and blaming the declining wages/benefits/jobs on illegals instead of themselves and the wealthy).
And unlike previous presidents, he’s actually trying to do what he promised. Isn’t that a novel thing?

Healthcare repeal already failed, but look at how many pro-war Democrats there are now that he’s pulling us out of Syria! As promised!
And he’s trying to build this idiotic wall, as promised! I’m against the wall, BTW. I’m for being a welcoming country for anybody who wants to live here. But he’s trying to do what he promised he’d do! Imagine that!
If Obama acted like this in office (fulfilling his promises), we’d have been out of the Middle East already, we’d already have universal healthcare, we’d have a more transparent government, mass incarceration would be a thing of the past, and Donald Trump would’ve never happened!
Get rid of Trump without defeating him in an election and you just turn him into a martyr.

Trump is the symptom. The system is the problem!
