Still think we have this "left v. right" thing wrong. It's outdated language. GOP also not "conservative" any longer. You have party of the few v. party of the many, party of corruption v. party of rule of law, party of racism v. party of inclusion...
party of profligacy vs. party of responsibility, party of pollution vs. party of the environment, party of white men vs. party of everyone else, party of Russia vs. party of national security, party of autocrat-love vs. party of democracy...
party defending torture and murder vs. party of human rights, party of attacking allies vs. party of defending alliances, party of nationalism vs. party of global community, party of misogyny vs. party led by women, party of growing inequality vs. party of growing the economy...
party of letting Wall Street and big business run wild vs. party of sensible regulation, party of letting healthcare bankruptcy citizens vs. party of health care as a right for all, party of education vs. party of ignorance, party of lies vs. party of truth...
party of science vs. party of superstition and rumor, party of propaganda vs. party of history.

The list goes on. But nowhere are the real choices we faced reflected in antiquated terms like left and right, conservative and liberal.
The fiscal conservatives today, the ones who believe in action grounded by ancient principles and values, the ones who believe in the rule of law and who oppose activist judges with a partisan agenda, the ones who support strong national security...those are the Democrats.
Words matter. Language matters. Let's not let carelessness with these old terms distort the truth about American politics today.

Our entire higher education system is rigged to enable the rich to stay rich, to keep the poor from getting rich and to preserve inequality and class distinction in our society. Today's scandal is a subset of a subset of that system.
It however, reveals a fundamental truth of how the many such corrupted systems in our society work. There is almost always a path by which a super rich person can get away with doing something that would land someone with less (even if they too are rich) in jail.
The fact that Donald Trump and Jared Kushner, both dim bulbs of the dimmest order, got into Ivy League schools illustrates this. The most rich donate buildings and make big contributions and their kids get in. It's the way it has always been.

If the president is letting a Chinese madam sell access at Mar-a-Lago to Chinese business people while his friends are getting serviced at businesses she started, he is exposing himself and the country to massive blackmail risk. Surely the IC and FBI are aware of this.
Why aren't alarms going off? Why has it been allowed to progress? Where is the deeper investigation of these relationships and how deep the compromise might have run. This seems like another fun story about our sleaze bag president. But it's more than that.
It is a story of how foreign actors (& perhaps how domestic actors) gain leverage over the president. Consider this for a moment: If the Steele dossier had contained speculation that the president & his family were giving access to a Chinese woman who runs a string of sex spas..

I know that Bob Mueller is a saint and above reproach but amid the greatest scandal in American history, the clear betrayal of the US by a president and his team, traitorous acts, there is a growing perception nothing wrong was done.
That's because of the way this case has been made to date. That could change with shocking developments. But if the case ends up this way, we may change our view of this process.
Some of this has to do with the success the president has had in making the case that collusion--not a crime--had to be proven or this case was a witch hunt. It's preposterous and is not only a disservice to justice but it is an aid to our enemies.

2. This isn’t to say partisanship, poor behavior, even corruption isn’t a both-sides problem. It is. But, a zero-sum interpretation is ridiculous. We have never had a POTUS that was as corrupt, unethical, untruthful and unhinged as Trump.
3. The normalization of Trump has come through the sheer onslaught of his scandals and the Groundhog Day manner the media has afforded him. The same shocking revelations and behavior discussed each time like it’s new - an endless norm-shattering Ferris Wheel.

it's 2018 and if you're a grown man/woman waiting for Trump to 'do right thing,' i know lots of bridges for sale.
distressing that people who have been watching Trump for 3 yrs (and **it's their job**) still think he's capable of 'doing right thing'

It is no surprise Twitter targets accounts for “wrong think” or as we on the #Right like to call it “free-think” this is because of two events which are now totally and utterly inextricably linked, #Brexit and #Trump and the Establishment have been rocked to the core. 2/15

The @CDCgov cites 133M as the number of chronically-ill Americans who have #cancer, like I do, or another illness that impedes their daily lives.

The majority of that 40% of the US population still have to work despite often disabling illness because we cannot afford not to.

When you're in your 20s writing about other 20somethings dying, it changes you.

Then I got #breastcancer at 26.
