Today's #TwitterSession would focus on helping a young HR professional resolve three (3) burning issues. I look forward to reading your contribution(s) to resolving the challenges. #HRwithEM
Here comes Q1.

Please start your response with A1 and end with the hashtag #HRwithEM.
Q1 - How does #HR help leaders be more inspirational and responsible in an organisation? #HRwithEM
Being an inspirational leader require more than just being smart or having a quick wit. Inspirational leaders need a high dose of EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. #HRwithEM
#HR managers or leaders should encourage their organisations to invest in leadership training that will help these leaders acquire necessary skills that would enable them become emotionally aware. #HRwithEM
When leaders are emotionally aware or intelligent, they are able to read people's body language, recognize people's struggles and know what to say at the right time to get them inspired to deliver or work towards a common goal. #HRwithEM
Responsibility only comes when accountability is made mandatory. When leaders are accountable for things within their power and control, they are being responsible. #HR leaders should ensure in line with senior management that every leader is held accountable. #HRwithEM
We are moving on to Q2. #HRwithEM
Q2 - What is the most impactful component of employee experience? #EmployeeExperience #HRwithEM
The diagram below depicts the impact of #EmployeeExperience in any organisation.

What is #EmployeeExperience? #HRwithEM
#EmployeeExperience is not about any single thing, but rather it's the culmination of countless experiences gleaned over time throughout the employee's lifecycle with the organisation. #HRwithEM
#EmployeeExperience is all about people and in my opinion made up of three basic elements:
1. Employees perceptions
2. The work environment, and
3. HR services to employees. #HRwithEM
In the words of @richardbranson, "if you can put staff first, customers second, and shareholders third, effectively, in the end, the shareholders do well, the customers do better, and your staff remains happy." #HRwithEM
To answer the question, putting employee first is the most impactful component of #EmployeeExperience and you do this through communication and what they go through everyday across the employee lifecycle. #HRwithEM
We are now moving to the last question of the day - Q3. #HRwithEM
Q3 - How do you get staff to be inspired enough to be brand ambassadors? #HRwithEM
Why do companies strive to have a strong brand? They have realised that the stronger the brand, the higher the premium they charge for their products and services. Check out @Apple and @SamsungMobile and you will understand the WHY?. #HRwithEM
The best organisations have also realised that strong brands are not built by marketing departments alone - EVERY employee in EVERY department has a role to play. Can you imagine marketing promoting the product(s) while other employees are demarketing same product(s)? #HRwithEM
In a @Forbes article, @williamarruda shared 3 steps that any company should follow if they desire to transform employees into brand ambassadors:
1. Promote Self Discovery - Personal Branding
2. Make Brand Awareness a Priority
3. Connect the Personal and the Corporate.
#HRwithEM
1. Promote Self Discovery - Personal Branding
In a @Cornell research, it showed that "...when your employees can be their 'authentic best selves' in the workplace, productivity and retention increase." #HRwithEM
Telling existing or new hires that they should feel lucky to be working for you can backfire. It communicates arrogance, which repels. @williamarruda #HRwithEM
Your goal is to attract so that your new brand ambassadors will feel authentically drawn to your brand. @williamarruda #HRwithEM
Helping your employees your employees unearth their greatest strengths and integrate them into everything they do is essential to your success and the success of your brand. @williamarruda #HRwithEM
2. Make Brand Awareness a Priority: As a leader, you must educate your team on the brand and live the brand so they can learn from your example. "Do as I do, and not Do as I say" should be your lifestyle. @williamarruda #HRwithEM
3. Connect the Personal and the Corporate: the Personal brand of your employees should NEVER compete with the Corporate brand. They should complement or cooperate with each other. #HRwithEM
Each individual needs to determine how he or she can deliver on the corporate brand promise in a way that is authentic, leveraging the corporate identity with what ignites them and makes them exceptional. @williamarruda #HRwithEM
We have come to the end of today's #HRwithEM #TwitterSession #TweetChat and I believe that we have done justice to the Questions of the Week.

I look forward to having you again next week, same day, same time!
Thank you to everyone who contributed in making this #TwitterSession a success.

Keep sending your burning #HR question(s) to enmichael@enmichael.ng, and join me every Saturday at 4pm WAT to learn how we would handle such a situation.

Have a beautiful weekend!
