EXC: America’s counter-terrorism coordinator tells @Telegraph of his fears over Iran attacks in Europe.

Nathan Sales warns that Britain + others could see terror plots on home soil unless they do more to deter the threat.

Sales says there’s been a spate of Iran (or Iran proxy) attacks on the European continent including bomb + assassination plots in recent years.

He wants others to follow UK in designating Hezbollah a terrorist organisation in its entirety. Also nods to diplomatic expulsions.
These were some of the attacks he mentioned. Wants a much tougher response collectively from Europe.
Sales’s core message: “It is unacceptable that Iran would regard the European continent as fertile ground for its campaign of terrorism ... If there are no costs, Iran is going to keep at it.”

Opportunity zones are one of the Trump innovations that have largely gone under the radar. A massive capital gains tax break to force cash into struggling areas.

Now over a year since the law was changed, I took a look for our weekend paper recently.
The idea is simple. Identify areas with low investment (usually 1 in 5 living below poverty line). Treasury approves. 8,700+ created to date.

Then offer a tax break so appealing that private funds are convinced to back development projects there they otherwise wouldn’t.
Here’s how it is meant to work (in theory).

The benefits are twofold for investors - tax owed on current capital gains is deferred (or reduced) if put back into the zones.

And any profit on new investments in those areas is capital gains tax free after a decade. That’s massive.

Quick thoughts on Mueller report

1/ No more indictments = good new for White House. All that talk of other members of Trump world getting hit by Mueller is done.
2/ A massive row with Congress is coming. Democrats will want the underlying evidence sitting below the report. Whatever Attorney General hands over is unlikely to be enough.
3/ This Is Not The End. While Mueller is done, other federal prosecutors continue to investigate. NY looking at hush money payments, insurance schemes. Those lines of inquiry are independent of Mueller.

We will realize how Tehran sought nuclear arms for decades. For a country sitting on an ocean of oil & gas, a "peaceful" nuclear program is meaningless.
