Voted again tonight FOR a public vote on any Brexit deal, and to #RevokeArticle50 to prevent No Deal.

Voted AGAINST Customs Union and Common Market 2.0 - neither would give the long extension of A50 we need for a #PeoplesVote Ballot paper for Commons indicative votes with an EU flag in the box for a People's Vote
Of course the more sensible way to organise these votes in Parliament would have been to use single transferable vote / alternative vote, so preferences between options could be expressed... Icon saying Single Transferable Vote
FOR-AGAINST

Customs Union 273-276
Common Market 2.0 261-282
Confirmatory Referendum 280-292
Revoke to Avoid No Deal 191-292

HoC can surely find a majority if it combines one of these Brexits with a People's Vote.

On Wed, combination option is what HoC should vote on.

Make shared parental leave a right from your very first day in a job, just like maternity leave is. And extend it to self-employed parents and freelancers.

Looks like absolute scenes in Parliament yet again. Key amendment to secure time for Monday debate just being voted on. Big conflab at the clerks table instead of result being announced. Too close? Disputed figures? Andrea Leadsom now reading Erskine May...
@ParlyApp Now all the huddles are behind the Speaker's Chair. Notable that apart from @amandamilling it's mainly men. Speaker in animated conversations. The official HoC photos are going to be quite something. Now point of order asking what on earth going on.
Speaker says the two (Tory & Lab) Chief Whips have been asked to discuss the situation briefly. It's the 'usual channels' in real-time and with TV cameras...

Theresa May's deal has - on both attempts - secured significantly less support than a #PeoplesVote achieved tonight.

But the Government groundhog day rhetoric continues...

The public deserves better than this #BrexitShambles - we should #PutItToThePeople Handwritten tallies of votes for different options
Let's just analyse those figures.

#PeoplesVote secured the biggest vote in favour - 268 votes

Obviously I'm not a fan of first past the post, but it did beat all the other options.

In an ironic twist, the vote share on this was 48% - 52%...

A little thread on the state of #Brexit from #EU perspective: top priority is avoid a no deal. May agreeing to hold European elections is a breakthrough towards a long extension. Her letter was coordinated with EU leaders. If May doesn’t find an arrangement with 1/
Corbyn there would likely be a long extension that won’t be called that. A year-long extension would take the pressure off Westminster so we could end up with successive extensions to keep Brits on their toes. This may become more palatable that the @eucopresident flextension 2/
proposal. It is nearly inevitable that Britain will remain in the Customs Union, as May has long accepted. When this becomes clear in Westminster, and the idea of a post-#Brexit independent trade policy fades away, staying in the Single Market could become an option again. 3/

THREAD: The myth of the soft Brexit majority.

A majority in this parliament needs to get to 320. It's been repeated so often that it has become a truth—that there is a majority for a soft Brexit in parliament.

Here's why that's almost certainly not the case.

Let's start with the Labour Party (245 MPs).

Soft Brexit is the position of the leadership (see JC letter to TM 6/2).

But there are at least 60 strong backers of a people's vote in the PLP & maybe 5 who want a harder Brexit.

So Labour brings max 180 MPs to soft Brexit.

What would the SNP do?

Well, Scotland voted to Remain, and yesterday Sturgeon said: "preferably asking for a longer extension to put the issue back to voters".

So don't count on any SNP support for soft Brexit

1/ "Whose Brexit vision is better?" we are sometimes asked - Labour's or the Conservatives? As a cross party organisation we try not to take sides, but we will try to answer as clearly as possible. #brexit
2/ The main problem with the Conservative Brexit approach is their strict, unyielding; some might say fanatical adherence to their red lines. This is probably because they see brexit as a zero-sum game, where the object of the game is to beat the other player.
3/ The Labour Party have fewer red lines, which should in theory mean it would be easier for them to negotiate a good deal, - but they have picked the wrong main redline - the CUSTOMS UNION. They mistakenly think that a customs union is a panacea.
