Germany has been, in my opinion, the best country in the world on climate stuff.

Not only did they reduce their emissions steadily (without outsourcing much to China etc.), they pushed green technology forward which helped the whole world.

Thanks, Germany!!!
Sweden not looking bad either, though they do more outsourcing of emissions.
France not too bad either
Thanks to steady population growth, the U.S. was steadily increasing emissions...until the Great Recession, Obama, and the advent of fracking.
The UK looks similar to France and Sweden.
Japan has been slightly less great on the emissions front.
And South Korea's catch-up growth grew its emissions a lot.
The fall of the USSR was great for Russian emissions. GDP per capita has more than recovered, but emissions have stayed lower.
And then of course there is China...
Canada looks a bit like the U.S. here.
And Australia looks a bit like the U.S. and Canada.
Norway's not bad, but maybe not as good as one would think?
Hopefully India will switch to renewables soon so their people can escape poverty without going through a coal stage.
Anyway, remember, these are total emissions, not per capita. Nor are they adjusted for economic growth.

Anyway, the upshot is, Europe has done considerably better than other places on reducing emissions while growing the economy. But the real action is now in the developing world.
