In general I just expect the MSM to be out of step with the grassroots and marginalized demographics across the board so I always take their coverage with a shaker of salt and throw shade accordingly. They’ll cover who their predominantly White audience wants to see, period.
@darakass @jackjonesbabe Having said that I think this is also why the ideological splits within the D party don’t become as readily quantifiable until the vote tallies and fundraising numbers show up to contradict the MSM’s preferred crushes.

@darakass @jackjonesbabe I also think that’s why Yglesias is hedging with neutrality in this article. Being the MSM’s crush and basking in their free air time doesn’t automatically guarantee the support of the party base and in recent history it’s actually been the opposite.
@darakass @jackjonesbabe They started the ‘08 primary off by shitting on Obama too and we all know how that turned out in the end. They’re continually off base and it’s largely bc they aren’t interested in inclusivity or non-White thought/aspirations, it’s their Achilles heel.
