Does no one find it weird that Putin referenced one of Aesop's fables to POTUS?

(the mountain and the mouse)
THE MOUNTAIN IN LABOUR

A mountain had gone into labor & groaned terribly. Such rumors excited great expectations all over the country. In the end tho the mountain gave birth to a mouse.

*This is a fable written for people who make serious-sounding threats but accomplish nothing
..... I mean. Given the last few weeks, referencing empty threats to POTUS seems ... apt. But I doubt POTUS understood that.

Such a pleasure & an honor to teach this class. Nothing forces you to hone your arguments better than sharp iron in the classroom. Newfound appreciation for the people who taught me so much when the material spans military doctrine, current events, history -- & high emotions. ;)

A 6th grader named Nate Holley, who is 12, but seems impossibly young, just described how he was hanging onto a metal baseball bat in a closet because there were shooters outside the door of his classroom, and if he was going to go down, he he was going to go down fighting.
"Be brave," we tell our children. But what we are asking of this generation is insanity.

"We had a couple drills this year," he says, "but no one really knew what to do."

Nor should you, kid. This isn't red dawn.

Kids in Idaho watched the sky for radioactive Chernobyl clouds. Company my dad worked for re-entombed the blown reactor. I did a school project on meltdown. Stories from the crisis from ex-Soviet friends: haunting. It helped end the USSR.

High expectations -- hope this delivers
Btw in HBO "Klitschko" doc, there's this amazing sequence where Wladimir walks around an abandoned military base in Ukraine where his father, a Soviet helicopter pilot, was based during Chernobyl, flying missions to dump sh*t into the reactor and stop the meltdown...
... He describes how no one knew what was going on, and the helicopters would come back, and be hosed down, and the water (and radioactive dust) would collect in two retaining pools, and the kids would play in the water with their boats.

It's just haunting.

Yesterday I cancelled my #Labour membership. Tonight I watched #TulsiGabbard speak #Liverpool & its #Labour members have been disparaged by @wesstreeting & others. We once looked to advocates of peace now we smear them.

In February, Mueller released information clarifying how and why #Putin desperately wanted to stop #HillaryClinton from being elected.

Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Jill Stein were helped by Russian election interference  vox.com/policy-and-pol…
In #Helsinki, #Putin stated directly that he worked to elect Trump. His intent was to stop #HillaryClinton. He tried to effectuate that during the primary by targeting Sanders supporters. Putin could not sway non-white voters despite his broad disinformation campaign against HRC.
But even though #Putin was unable to win the primary, he WAS able to plant the seeds of disinformation quite strongly. That included the parroting of #HillaryClinton being "corrupt," which Sanders and Trump had hammered (without evidence) repeatedly. (Details are in the report.)
