Many of you reluctant to give up deeply-held belief in Trump-Russia conspiracy/coordination/collusion. Some say Mueller found C/C/C but just couldn't meet legal beyond-a-reasonable-doubt standard. Still, it was there! 1/3 ow.ly/hWda50ujjac

Isn't this Trump-Pelosi stuff just impeachment theater? Goading each other, playing to their crowds. Democrats want to see Pelosi stand up to Trump, Republicans want to see Trump stand up to Pelosi. So they do. 1/6
On other hand, some serious forces may be moving toward impeachment. Democrats are pushing 'cover-up' allegation. If they get base stirred up enough, might have to go forward. Possibly headed toward court with Trump executive privilege claim. 2/6
So: US v Nixon. In 1974, indictment of Watergate conspirators. Prosecutor told Nixon: Hand over WH tapes. Nixon claimed privilege. SCOTUS ruled privilege 'must yield to the demonstrated, specific need for evidence in a pending criminal trial.' 3/6

Interesting aspect of Trump 'cover-up' stuff is that WH has already extensively cooperated with criminal investigation, the Mueller probe. After all Trump turned over to Mueller, what does he have to turn over to Congress? 1/4
US v Nixon fight ended with Nixon having to turn tapes over to *criminal* proceeding. SCOTUS said: 'The generalized assertion of privilege must yield to the demonstrated, specific need for evidence in a pending criminal trial.' 2/4
Some think courts would make similar ruling for congressional inquiry. But who knows? Lawfare: '[SCOTUS] has never decided a case concerning a congressional subpoena for information issued to an executive branch official where the president has asserted executive privilege.' 3/4

Mueller's Report insisted it did *not* investigate collusion as such, yet Barr summarized the Report as having found "no collusion." We'll hear a lot about the Mueller-Barr tiff focusing on obstruction, but when Mueller testifies we'll hear much more on Vol. 1 disagreements, too.
1/ Barr's letter confirms he understands what the phrase "no evidence" means—and it's a phrase that he abandons altogether when discussing Trump-Russia "links," though he resorts there to the beyond a reasonable doubt standard and limits his statements to the crime of conspiracy.
2/ One of the easiest questions Barr's letter to the Senate lends itself to: "If Mueller found 'clear and convincing' evidence of a non-conspiracy crime like bribery during his probe, would you agree that would't be covered by this Report—and would need to be referred elsewhere?"

2/ Up until this point I gave Bob the benefit of the doubt, but once it became abundantly clear that he wasn't serious about proving the underlying crime, the "DNC Hack", I knew that A) the investigation was a hoax and MOST IMPORTANTLY B) Russia Collusion could never be proven!
3/ @AndrewCMcCarthy wrote a brilliant piece in December 2017, contemplating whether Mueller could prove the "Russian hack" beyond a reasonable doubt. Indicting the 12 Russians without my aforementioned prerequisites in (1/) indicated that he never would! nationalreview.com/2017/12/russia…
