FACT: The joint US-Mexico declaration, which is less than 500 words long, requires Mexico to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING it isn't already doing.

It is not a "deal."

It is a fig leaf to cover up Trump's humiliating diplomatic defeat
What is particularly infuriating is how much "objective" media coverage repeats the Trump narrative without pointing out the basic fact that Mexico didn't agree to do anything new.

It's absolutely ridiculous.

One of the thing that the media has not adjusted to after more than two years of Trump: He is much more likely to lie than tell the truth

There is no evidence that Trump struck a meaningful “deal on migrants”

And yet here is the headline
Trump did the exact same thing with North Korea. He hyped a landmark agreement when the North Koreans agreed to nothing. We’ll see what this “deal” is with Mexico...

@ASFleischman This is ghastly, but also plainly accurate. The Georgia abortion ban obviously permits the prosecution of women who (1) obtain abortions and (2) self-terminate. Those who deny this fact are ignoring the text of the law.
@ASFleischman And no, prosecutorial discretion won't spare Georgia women who undergo abortions. The law puts them in serious legal jeopardy.

Franchise Tax Board v Hyatt is the sleeper abortion case you have not heard about. Because, of course, it is not about #abortion.

But the decision - and HOW it is reached - is going to determine how the incoming wave of abortion cases are going to be resolved.

The FTB case came from a tax dispute. A former resident of California sued the California Franchise Tax Board in a Nevada state court, claiming that it had done him all manner of wrongs in investigating his purported tax liability.

California does not want to be sued in another state’s courts. The current law, decades old, allows such suits.

The case has nothing to do with abortion, but everything to do with how to overturn precedent.

Don’t assume you’re OK because you’ve not moved and have voted in the same place for years. States have been conducting deep purges, and many perfectly valid voter registrations have disappeared — often without notice. rollingstone.com/politics/polit…
For example, in #Georgia in 2017, GOP Secretary of State #BrianKemp removed 591,000 voters from the rolls—that’s 1 in 10 registrations in a single year!
