New evidence that Trump administration's citizenship question on the Census is designed specifically to help the GOP. A party gerrymandering guru drew up an analysis in 2015 showing partisan gains, and urged the Trump transition team to use the question.

At least a couple of Trump admin officials appear to have lied under oath about the purpose of the census citizenship question, not that the DoJ cares about that kind of stuff anymore
Trump officials basically cut and paste clearly bogus arguments about a citizenship question upholding the Voting Rights Act from a GOP consultant, whose own analysis showed it would help his party.
Of course, this just confirms what everyone knew: the Trump admin made up a obviously false premise to justify undercutting the census for purely partisan gain.
Later this summer, 5 GOP officials wearing robes will bless this lie, offering some bromides about the role of law.
No better example of the instruments of government being used not for their intended purpose, but to maintain minority rule under the thinnest of legal premises. SCOTUS will ignore what experts on the census say, to feign belief in implausible lies of their political patrons.
