Thread: Since the day Corbyn was elected leader for the second time by members of the Labour Party, Labour MPs on the right of the party have been biding their time waiting for an opportunity to bring him down
Brexit is the main issue they've identified as a possible wedge between Corbyn and us, his supporters. From Labour live to Tom Watson's video yesterday people on the Labour right who used to be so worried about immigration are now champions of 'free movement'.
The Independent group resignations were supposed to be explosive. The Labour right anticipated a crisis in the Labour Party. We were supposed to see the error of our Corbyn supporting ways as Watson positioned himself to broker peace and lead rebel MPs 'back home'.
Unfortunately for the Labour right most us in the Labour Party just shrugged and quietly thought 'good riddance' when the independent group MPs left. Only Luciana Berger leaving managed to provoke any regret from Labour.
The Independent group staggered from one disaster to another and the threat of mass defections evaporated. They couldn't use it as leverage against Corbyn. The Labour right found another plan in tatters. Labour is the only show in town and we don't need them but they do need us.
Now the Labour right are launching another bid. Watson is going all out against Labour policy and they are furiously organising to change Labour policy to all out remain at conference. They hope to increase tensions within Labour and keep the focus on Corbyn.
We have to fight back against the Labour right. We need to make the deputy leader accountable and me must bring in automatic reselections. Labour MPs are not a law unto themselves. If they turn on Labour they should expect not to be Labour candidates at the next election.
This thread has really riled up the FBPE crowd. Muting time.
