Trump’s insistence upon adding the citizenship question is not purely about ego and unwillingness to accept defeat. It shows his dedication to advancing white supremacy and entrenching it in our politics. The question is designed to be racist. It isn’t about him. It’s about us.
Well, it is about Trump in one respect: an executive order issued to circumvent a Supreme Court ruling—refusing to offer the new justification for the question and simply attempting to impose it—would be yet another impeachable offense, and a particularly serious one, at that.
