PSA: I know that Azure Event Grid was around well before Amazon EventBridge, but as I've said a *number* of times now, it's not about the technology

AWS are listening to their customers to help them create serverless applications more easily.
AWS customers have been building applications using these patterns for a lot longer and well before Azure Event Grid was even out. All AWS have done is made it simpler.

So when everyone starts jumping up and down going "Azure did it first", well... hmm.
There are a lot of scenarios where other companies made the same or similar service before AWS.

AWS don't particularly care.

AWS listens to *their* customers. If *their* customers want a service, then they'll probably build it.
And the thing that many people who keep coming up with the "BUT BUT AZURE EVENT GRID" thing have missed is this

Amazon EventBridge is an evolution of CloudWatch Events

Which was around before Azure Event Grid
While I don't work for AWS any more, I do find it amusing to watch many people fall down the hole of completely misunderstanding AWS strategy and gameplay. Hint: @swardley mapping - you'll start to understand why shouting about Azure Event Grid is pointless
Developers are constantly enamoured with technology.

If I was AWS, I would keep this going. Get everyone talking about the "shiny shiny technology" whilst quietly going about winning the next cloud war.

Because serverless is the next cloud war, and they've pretty much won.
Amazon EventBridge has cemented AWS place at the top of the serverless application development tree.

The interesting thing is Azure Event Bridge isn't a bad idea... the issue is strategy, not technology. On that, AWS are way ahead.
