This is the sum total of a state-of-the-art induction cooktop’s user interface and its operational apparatus: uniform matte black uselessness. You can’t tell where the burners are because they don’t get hot, let alone light up, or have a line drawn around them. Pathetic. 
If the stove top was smart enough to know where the pan was, it could dynamically move the heat so it was always under it no matter where it was, except that then you would just have one big burner and managing two pots at different temps would be problematic.
Or maybe you could just have smart pots and pans.. Set the desired temp for each, and then the cook top figures out where they are and what they want.
Of course your pots would now need a user interface and a display and buttons and chips and wifi and would cost 1200 dollars, but that dystopia has already been selected for us anyway.
If you want to cook pho or mexican chiles and need to char the peppers, ginger, and onion, you are just shit out of luck with induction. Order takeout and STFU.
But, you say, induction changes temperature with the same rapidity as a gas flame. All it takes is lots more time, money, talent, and capacity for aggravation.
