All of the Syrian journalists I know can't return to Syria because they will be arrested and executed, Glenn Greenwald has repeatedly used his massive platform to dismiss their reporting in favour of war crimes denial in defence of the regime. 
Greenwald is a liar, a coward and in recent years has become a significant disinformation node used to disseminate war crimes denial on behalf of the Assad regime and the Russian government. His work in Brazil doesn't make him any less a useful tool for mass murdering dictators.
Greenwald has never had to fear being executed for returning to his home country, but he is more than happy to mock, insult and dismiss the concerns of those who do face those threats. he wouldn't know actual resistance if it died on the door of his multi-million dollar mansion.
Greenwald is however the expert of vapid, preening Twitter play-acting, which he also extends to real life appearances on White Supremacist talk shows. He goes on those talk shows to defend the racist US President currently imprisoning children and inspiring racist mass shootings
If Greenwald's only job was exposing on corruption and authoritarianism in Brazil, people would praise his work. Instead, he attacks authoritarianism in Brazil, while upholding and defending it in the US, Syria, Russia and beyond. He then uses his Brazil work to launder his image
On his very timeline today he is sharing tweets written by fascists working for Russian money to lie about the Syrian victims of war crimes. He does this repeatedly and without remorse. I pity the people still stupid enough to fall for his routine.
Greenwald has allied himself with bloggers working for dictators that have got journalists arrested and tortured. Greenwald is the reason Reality Winner is currently in prison in the US. Greenwald doesn't care about anyone but himself and his own ego.
