Returning to the story earlier this week about the UK withdrawing from EU meetings, I now have some grounds to suspect the reasoning for this is to deliberately restrict meetings between EU and UK officials, thus control the UK-EU narrative more closely theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Imposing control over UK-EU meetings is in keeping with the narrative of control from Number 10, that everything must be kept within the overall narrative. It is suggested, in a nod to @campbellclaret, that this is based on the success of the first Blair government
@campbellclaret In reality the desire for strong Number 10 control of Brexit negotiations is actually doubling down on what the previous PM did, and has the same problems - we require a genuine team effort of all departments not a secretive top-down process
