See how the big manilla section in the middle has shrunk? Those are the 2.25 million unsubsidized enrollees (+250K unsubsidized on-exchange) who've dropped out of #ACA plans over the past 2 years as premiums have shot up. 2/

Avg. premiums jumped around 23% in 2017 & nearly 28% in 2018. The 2017 hikes were largely due to the federal #ACA reinsurance program sunsetting (it's since been reinstated in nearly a dozen states), but the 2018 hikes are mostly due *directly* to Trump Admin policies. 3/

Trump Admin & Congressional GOP helped create the problem (not all of it, but a large portion), and now their proposed "solution" is to have everyone who was priced out enroll in non-ACA compliant #ShortAssPlans and other types of substandard policies, many of which are junk. 4/

The *actual* solution is far simpler: #KillTheCliff and pass #HR1868, which would expand tax credits (which currently cut off at $50K/yr if single or $100K for a family of 4) to everyone by limiting premiums to no more than 8.5% of your income. 5/

If #HR1868 was passed/signed into law, nearly all of the "need" for non-ACA plans would be instantly eliminated. Pretty much all 2.5 million would be able to return; those who've stuck it out at full price would see relief; and millions more would jump in as well. 6/

Oh yeah, an additional bonus: The ENTIRE off-exchange market would become moot; there'd no longer be any reason to go off-exchange for *anyone*, which would make it *much* easier for me to keep track of aggregate enrollment data. Health wonks everywhere would be thrilled :)
