I had refrained from commenting on the decay in Abia state for a long time. Not because I am not bothered. It becomes a slap on some of us when individuals who have been paid N100k and N200k by Okiyi would want to change the narrative of the fraud and decay in Abia state!
I have friends and family members who are not PDP, APC, APGA or PPA in Abia state. They live in Umuahia and Aba. Some work as civil servants, some retired, some traders. Traders are heavily taxed, civil servants owed. My uncle has not been paid for 11months. Pensioners also owed!
Infrastructures in Abia state is a mess. Last December, I drove between Enugu and Umuahia and then Aba. Umuahia is a glorified town, not worth a capital. Gombe is far better a capital. Aba is an eyesore. It is like a city meant for pigs-dirty, stinks, not fit for humans!
Then you ask what the taxes imposed on traders are being used for. You asked what federal allocations being collected are being used for. Paris refunds nko and loans being collected? When this questions are being asked, they assemble folks, pay them N50k, N100k, to tweet rubbish
And then they give you the rubbish excuse: “Oh, he is trying, IGR went down, he didn’t meet anything on ground, he has done better than others. And the most annoying one: he is not owing anybody except few, he has cleared salaries. As if paying salaries is an achievement.
My town, Nkporo in Ohafia LG, has remained at the receiving end of the bad Governance. No road, no water, no electricity, no healthcare facility. The people live on promises for better days. The road remains a promise and on top of it, Ikpeazu is promising General Hospital!
Abia state Govt can go hire all the influencers on social media, pay them money they are supposed to pay civil servants to help push good narratives. But some of us who still have conscience, would expose them all. The movement to change Abia has started. Thanks @henryshield
