Trump thanks Macron and Macron's wife, calls it a very successful G7 with "tremendous unity" despite the "false reporting" he's read. He said nobody wanted to leave.
Trump says he's going to stay to take more questions solo after the two from each side alongside Macron.
Macron is asked by Fox if he's concerned Trump's China trade war will harm the global economy, and if he talked to Trump about that. Macron said they obviously had "lengthy discussions" about this issue; the trade fight creates uncertainty which unsettles markets.
Macron says he sees "things are moving" between Trump and China. He calls for a balanced agreement that is good for everyone. "What's bad for the world economy is uncertainty, and the quicker an agreement is arrived at, the quicker that uncertainty will dissipate."
Asked if he believes China is sincere about its conciliatory words from this morning, Trump said yes, "I think they want to make a deal very badly." He says China has taken a "hard hit."
Trump says the US will have taken in $100 billion in China-tariff revenue. That will eventually be true if the tariffs remain, but it was $21 billion as of July. Trump then says prices haven't gone up; they have.
Trump repeats his usual false claim that the US had never previously taken in "10 cents" from China. Aside from the fact that Americans pay the tariffs, the US has had tariffs on China for more than two centuries. China tariffs generated billions per year during the Obama era.
Trump repeats his usual false claim that Iran was "given $150 billion" as part of the nuclear agreement. It was allowed to access less than $100 billion in its own frozen assets, experts say.
Trump says he'd meet with Iran if the "circumstances were right," but in the meantime, "they have to be good players." He adds that Macron told him "every step" about Zarif coming; Trump thought it was "too soon" to meet with Zarif, before issues were worked out, but was aware.
Trump says, of relations with Iran, "Maybe it works and maybe it doesn't." He adds that he says this about "everything": "Maybe it works and maybe it doesn't."
Asked if he sought Trump's permission to invite Zarif or just informed him after, he said he came up with the idea "on my own" but told Trump he wanted to do it before he did, making clear he wasn't extending the invite on behalf of the US; it was a "French initiative."
Macron says France is invested in the JCPOA. Trump chimes in to say again that the JCPOA is a bad deal.
Unnamed friend alert: "I actually had friends years ago, many years ago, they were in the real estate business, and they were in Iran and building houses...apartment buildings...they made a lot of money and they loved the people...it's a country with tremendous potential."
During this conversation about Iran, Trump brings up the "tremendous economic potential" of North Korea. He says Kim Jong Un "sees that." Trump says Kim "would be the leader" of the economically improved country.
Trump says again the Iran deal was expiring soon. It wasn't. Some important provisions are set to expire in the next 10-15 years, but others last longer or are indefinite.
Trump repeats his eternal false claim that the US has had a $500 billion trade deficit with China for "many many years." (It has never once been $500 billion.) He claims the Asian American unemployment rate is the lowest ever. It was lower at the end of the Obama administration.
Asked how he can reassure Americans he isn't trying to profit from the presidency, given he wants to host a G7 at his Doral resort, Trump claims again that the presidency has cost him $3 billion to $5 billion. (Can't fact-check a hypothetical, but no apparent basis for this.)
Asked about concerns about him profiting from the presidency, Trump says he used to give speeches for a lot of money but now gives speeches for free.
"I don't want to make money. I don't care about making money." -- Donald Trump (on the G7 at his resort)
Trump said earlier that Melania has "gotten to know Kim Jong Un." She was not present for any of Trump's meetings with Kim.
Trump touts the decline of the Iranian economy from economic sanctions, then says "I don't want to see that. They're great people. I don't want to see that."
Trump says he is "transforming" the United States by getting rid of dumb trade arrangements. "Stupid, if you'd like to use that word, because it's so descriptive," he adds.
Asked why it's appropriate to invite Russia back into the G7 given its election meddling, and whether it'd hurt him politically in 2020, Trump says "I don't care politically...whether I win or not, I have to do the right thing." He adds that (unspecified) polls show him ahead.
Trump says that Crimea was "taken away from President Obama," "not President Trump," and Obama was "outsmarted" and embarrassed, so Obama wanted Russia out of the G8 because of his hurt feelings, and "they're not in for that reason."
Trump: "I do nothing for politics. I do what's right."
Trump insists that Obama was personally upset by Russia annexing Crimea under him and lashed out (Russia's suspension was a joint G8 decision); conversely, if Crimea was annexed under him, he'd say, "Sorry folks, I made a mistake...sorry folks."
Trump claims China isn't actually saying there was no phone call (the foreign ministry said it was unaware of any calls) -- and he points to the non-call statement from China's vice premier. He says there were "numerous calls," with Mnuchin and others.
Asked about his very divergent public comments on China, Trump says sorry, "It's the way I negotiate. It's done very well for me over the years. And it's doing even better for the country."
Trump says he was waiting for Boris Johnson to become prime minister for "about six years," and asked him what took so long. He says Johnson is very smart.
Trump oscillating between talking up his properties and saying he doesn't care about his properties: "I love the UK. I own great property in the UK...I have no idea how my property is doing because I don't care...but I own Turnberry...Doonbeg..." Doonbeg is in Ireland.
This is not the first time Trump has suggested Ireland is part of the UK.
Trump said he asked UK PM Boris Johnson, "What's happening with 'England'? They don't use it too much anymore." He said they talked about this subject and it was "very interesting."
Asked about Russia saying it doesn't have a foreign policy goal of returning to the G7, Trump says, "You know, we'll see...I know one thing: if they were invited back, I think they'd be there."
Trump claims that, since so many G7 discussions involved Russia, "a few people" looked up at the table and said Russia should be there. He doesn't say who.
Asked what the world should be doing about climate change, Trump says, "I feel that the United States has tremendous wealth...I've made that wealth come alive..." He boasts, "We are now the #1 energy producer in the world." (That happened under Obama in 2012.)
Asked about climate change, Trump is boasting at length about his work to promote production of oil and gas. He says, "I'm not going to lose that wealth" on "windmills."
Trump: "I'm an environmentalist...I've done more environmental impact statements...more than anybody that's ever been president." You do environmental impact statements for development projects. It is not something that makes you an environmentalist.
Asked about climate change, Trump did not say anything about climate change, just boasted about energy production, said he won't sacrifice American wealth, and claimed to be an "environmentalist." He's now concluded.
