Boris Johnson's speech in Rotherham interrupted by heckler: "Why aren't you with our MPs in Parliament Boris, sorting out your mess?" PM replies: “I’m very happy to get back to Parliament very soon”.
Ouch. BBC Breakfast presenter and conference compere Steph McGovern sticks one on the PM after he leaves the stage: “I'd just like to point out, I am a girly swot and I’m proud of it. Let’s see who’s in the job the longest”.
Worth noting No10 didn't invite the national press to listen to the PM's speech in Rotherham today, possibly because of the horlicks he made of the police cadets speech last week.

Sources in No10 now hitting back at the Scottish judges, suggesting they are politically biased: "We note that last week the High Court in London did not rule that prorogation was unlawful. The legal activists choose the Scottish courts for a reason".
Activists who brought the case, including @JolyonMaugham, say they lodged it in the Scottish courts as England's High Court wasn't sitting in August.
@JolyonMaugham Justice Secretary now intervenes to disagree with sources in No10. Must also be said that not everyone in Downing Street agrees with suggestion that Scots judges might be biased, and a fairly heavy distancing is now underway

No10: Parliament is to be prorogued until October 14 tonight.
Some big consequences of prorogation tonight:
1. If PM loses the FTPA vote tonight, as expected, there will be no general election until November 20 at the very earliest (no MPs will be sitting to vote for one). So the zombie Parliament limps on, possibly even into December.
2. The PM is able to avoid his first grilling of the Liaison Committee, which he was due before at 3.30pm on Wednesday for 90 minutes, as well as PMQs this week.

More trouble for Boris. Lots of Tory backbenchers in a 1922 Committee meeting with the PM now just cheered Edward Leigh and Damian Green for speaking up for the 21 rebels, and booed Dan Kawczynski for attacking them.
I'm told Boris is now explaining his alternative Irish backstop idea to the 1922, an all-Ireland agrifood zone, by quoting Ian Paisley Snr: "Our people may be British but our cows are Irish”.
In reply to backbenchers demanding the whip is restored to the 21, I’m told Boris repeatedly said he “can’t undermine the chief”. Tory MPs say it was the PM who instructed the Chief Whip to do it.
