I’m a strong supporter of the US-Saudi alliance, but the proper US response is to support our allies when/how they feel they should retaliate, not to feel the need to do everything for them. If you want to help, keep putting economic screws to Iran and sabotaging their nukes.
Israel needs to wipe out Iranian terrorists in Syria? Support them as they do it.

Saudi Arabia/GCC needs to slap back at Iran? Support them as they do it.

If you want to really pull US forces back from the Middle East without losing our alliances and interests, that’s how.
Our allies are not weak—but a bipartisan consensus of decades has felt that, if fighting needs to happen, it should be done by the US. McCain was the poster boy for this view.

Let’s now retain our influence and interests by empowering our allies to take it into their own hands.
