The latest from @SkyNews in 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia after attack on 2 huge oil facilities:
📍@SecPompeo arrives later
📍It’s expected he‘ll present new evidence implicating Iran
📍🇸🇦 Defence Ministry preparing to release evidence implicating Iran - significant shift in strategy [Thread]
🔴 Breaking:
📍We’re told @modgovksa will present material evidence including weapons, proving Iranian involvement
📍If 🇸🇦 does explicitly name Iran, it would would represent shift by Gulf Arab states who’ve been reluctant to name #Iran for any attacks like those on tankers /2
📍Gulf states naturally anxious that they would be on frontline of any military escalation
📍France to send investigators to help determine who was responsible
📍@EmmanuelMacron was key in trying to bring the Iranians & US to the negotiating table. /3
🎥 The latest from Saudi Arabia as the @modgovksa prepares for a news conference where they say they’ll ‘announce the final results of the investigation’ into the weekend attacks. #iran
Message just sent out to all residents of Riyadh (this doesn’t happen every day) #AramcoDroneStrike
The fact that missiles/drones which hit oil facilities east of Riyadh last w/e were not intercepted or even detected by Saudi air defences is a failure. It’s suggested that all air defences were focused on threats from the south (Yemen). More detail maybe at news conference?
Typically succinct analysis as always from @Itwitius on the #Saudi / #Iran situation (read his books too - they’re brilliant!)

War imminent?
No.
For 4 reasons...
All the very latest developments on the #Saudi #AramcoAttack here and in the thread above.

🔴 BREAKING: News conference by Saudi Ministry of Defence is about to start.
I’ve been asked not to take any photos yet.
But they said they would show off the actual missiles & drones they say they’ve collected from the two sites. They haven’t disappointed. @SkyNews in 30 mins.
🔴 Here it is. The ‘material evidence’ which the #Saudi government says they collected from the sites of the weekend attacks (and the attack on Afif oil facility in May) and which they say proves that Iran was responsible for the attacks. News conference live now @SkyNews
I can count 7 drone wreckages - labeled as Iranian Delta Wing UAVs - and two missiles - labeled as ‘misfired LACM’ (Land Attack Cruise Missile).
🎥 Saudi military has said explicitly now that they believe the attack at the weekend was the work of Iran and that the attack came from the north (not Yemen).
🎥 The Saudi @modgovksa spokesman wouldn’t be drawn on what response would come as a consequence of attacks they blame on #Iran: one for the politicians he essentially says.
But on the suggestion that the drones and missiles came from Yemen, he couldn’t be clearer. They did not.
Tonight, the Houthi rebel army in Yemen is threatening the #UAE (Saudi coalition partner in Yemen fighting the Houthis).
It’s the latest development in an extraordinary day in the gulf. (Thread above)
