Dominic Cummings attempting to manoeuvre ex vote Leave chief & founder of secretively funded lobby group “The taxpayers alliance” as well as “Conservative friends of Russia” into the Treasury as Special Advisor to Sajid Javid..

..against the wishes of Sajid Javid.
Matthew Elliot the highly controversial lobbyist involved in the Legatum institute, the Putin near “Conservative friends of Russia” lobby as well as the secretively & foreign funded “Taxpayers alliance” is said to be Cummings choice over riding Javid’s concerns.
This shouldn’t really be a surprise as there have been previous attempts to leve in Matthew Elliot into the treasury.

This is ofcourse in addition to his MPs salary\expenses of £100 000 a year.

Michael Gove has, over the last 5 days, “taken soundings” from cabinet members & a number of backbench MPs on replacing Boris Johnson if he “is forced to resign” over Brexit extension or legal issues surrounding it.
Getting more info now on the internal struggle in UK government now.

It seems that Gove is working with Cabinet Members who are seeking to oust Dominic Cummings from his role in govt.

Plan is to oust Cummings within weeks if not days.
The Gove team are still the Leavers but are calling themselves “the Pragmatists”. Looking to feed off widespread concern both of Cummings strategy as well as the “more unedifying mood music” round the Cummings/Johnson strategy.

Ebbing support for Cummings within party now.

@jonworth is always interesting but I think the “no deal = end of Tories’ election chances assumption” overstated.
In essence there’s 2 big factors that damage a govt fighting a GE post “no deal”
1. Immediate chaos
2. Economic cost

But politically these can be mitigated..

The immediate chaos will in no way be laid at the door of the govt by any media source sympathetic to Brexit. Indeed knowing British culture the s/t chaos will be spun as a stoic British virtue a la WWII.

So long as drugs/req food gets thru the govt might actually gain votes

The economic cost is 2part: long & short term. Nobody in the midst of no deal brexit will talk about longterm cost. Even remainers. It will be full on 24 hour rolling coverage from Dover & Waitrose running low on lettuce.

Which leaves the short term cost..
