That’s because conspiracy theorists is a misnomer. It’s not mistake-of-fact, but a conscious decision to push disinformation for the gain of their chosen agendas.
This is also why fact-checks that do not investigate the provenance of lies and the agendas they aim to advance are ultimately impotent.
The phrase “conspiracy theorist,” designed to stigmatize malefactors, ultimately gives them an undeserved benefit of the doubt.
