Another "EU and Ireland should break their long held red lines to avoid no-deal" thread. So the UK (50% of trade with the EU) is fine with no-deal, but the EU (8% of trade with the UK) should abandon their principles and Ireland to avoid no-deal.
In one sense it doesn't matter - the EU aren't going to put two political parties of a departing country above a remaining member state. But it matters because it shows how disconnected the London media narrative is from negotiating realities.
At some point, soon or far in the future, the UK will have a Government that wants a deal with the EU, and is prepared to engage realistically to get one. The EU will make some compromises for that Government. They won't though abandon principles.
As I've said before, the UK threatening the EU with a bad deal over no deal is throwing weight around that we don't actually have. /end
PS If I was on the other side of a negotiation from a party containing MPs with this kind of attitude I'd assume no-deal was most likely
