2/ As I’ve spoken on before, I value “public review” much more than simply peer review. By making all the data and methodology publically archived, @davidludwigmd and his team met the gold standard I have been very vocal about since entering this space.
3/ Full public availability of the raw data and methodology means anyone in or outside academia can provide further analysis, feedback, and criticism.

I can’t possibly emphasize enough how strongly I advocate for this approach.

1/ I’ve been asked about this a lot recently, so here’s my update.

It’s been 17 months since I started the #WaterOnlyChallenge where the only beverage I drink is water.

Nope — no coffee, tea, diet soda, kombucha or anything but still water, full stop.
2/ It was tough at first given I was a chronic cola drinker my entire life, but it got easier and easier with each passing month. Now I rarely think of drinking anything else as the habit is strongly ingrained.
3/ One of the more interesting comments I get from some people is:

“Oh yeah, I pretty much only drink water. That and a little bit of coffee.”
Me: “How often do you drink coffee?”
- “Pretty much every day.”
- “You could try cutting out the coffee—“

1/ for what it’s worth, I don’t think being nice is strictly about pleasing others and being courteous. For me, it’s also about professionalism, easy collaboration, and inviting challenge. In fact, that last one might be the most important, particularly with #Science...
2/ I want to be receptive on every counter idea to my own. This is why invest so much time speaking to those with opposing views. I want to understand where they’re coming from and why. Many of my strongest opinions came from trying to defend its opposite unsuccessfully...
3/ And I’m certainly not perfect at this, I always feel like I could do a lot better.

Sometimes a friendly debate goes south and I spend the rest of the day thinking about what I could do or say differently to keep that from happening in the same way again.

1/ Epiphany

Sometimes something big hits you during a dark moment.

The last few days have been challenging for me at a personal level for reasons I won’t go into, but while traveling back home on the plane tonight, my Deeper Engineer kicked in with a new, grand solution...
2/ A big strategy of mine is trying to figure out how to “next level” discussions between opposing opinions regarding lipids, low carb, and risk- trying to figure out the best ways to bring people together productively. But this idea is giving me a new perspective on the approach
3/ Sorry to be a little cryptic, but for this moment, the what isn’t as important as the how. Sometimes the biggest ideas come at the least expected times.

I’ll share more on this new chapter after I confirm a few things privately...

So much of Cloudflare's reasoning is endemic to a number of cultural tendencies I see in my research across "Internet infrastructure providers".

Understanding these is necessary to tackle discussions about the responsibility of tech companies in such tragic events. 2/17

OK. It's happening, and I can finally talk openly about it (a thread).

I have decided to transfer from my #PhD into a #Masters degree. I'm currently writing my thesis - I'm due to submit in October.

And I want to talk about it, because we don't talk about this enough.
This isn't a decision I've made lightly, or impulsively. It's due to a plethora of factors, including personal, project and professional reasons. It's something I've been thinking about for a long time, and something I should have thought more about before I even started my PhD.
I like studying. I like learning. I loved university, honours was challenging, but a PhD was the next logical step. I took a little time off (not enough)-but getting a scholarship early pretty much confirmed I'm be moving on to the next part of my academic life.

I was born & raised in Chicoral, Colombia. A tiny town in the middle of the Andes Cordillera.
I attended Nuestra Señora del Rosario school, located in Espinal, 15Km away from Chicoral. Due to the high heat by noon, all schools start really early back home. This meant, I had to wake up at 5am to attend school every morning since I was 4 years old. #VoicesIWS
I did well in math and science in elementary and high school, so I chose to study clinical microbiology. Although coming from a low-middle income family, I was able to attend university, thanks to my parents’ effort to prioritize education over other commodities. #VoicesIWS

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
