(3) It appears that Katie Hill has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, or something similar. She clearly abuses alcohol, weed, and God knows what else, so she has a Dual Diagnosis, which can be hard to treat.

(4) I say involuntary bc people with this set of mental health needs typically check themselves out of treatment within a matter of days.

(5) Who knows how many other lives have been put into disarray around her? I worry for the 24yo woman. Her comments remind me of Monica Lewinsky. Young & naive. Predated by a boss with ego & power.

(6) I am not excusing Hill's conduct as the result of mental illness, in any way, shape or form.
I hold her fully responsible for every aspect of the harm she has caused.

(7) People with bipolar disorder can succeed in their career and life, but ONLY if they have the proper supports around them. That means excellent medical care, and family members who understand the disorder and will protect the person from the worst effects of it.
(8) I don't think Katie Hill has had the kind of medical care & family support she needed. Her husband appears to have tried to intervene, but was not strong enough to get through to her. It's often the case.
