Firstly, I had a look at the amounts of sports funding, approved by then Sports Minister @senbmckenzie, Australia-wide compared to population.

On a per capita basis, Northern Territory fared best, NSW fared worst

But, I really wanted to focus on Queensland to see if that may have been a contributing factor to the large swing to the Coalition in QLD.

It appears that some QLD federal seats fared better than others, particularly Coalitions seats!

Here's the list of QLD electorates & funding.

@GChristensenMP's seat of Dawson got the most - $2,004,632 or about $12.82 per person in Dawson

@JEChalmers' seat of Rankin has the highest population in QLD, it got $16,400 or about $0.09 per person in Rankin

The seats in far north QLD did very well.

Some of the funding went to councils and even a Catholic school

Some sporting organisations got multiple grants while others missed out.

Some sporting organisations got grants of up to $500,000

The entire $150,000 that the seat of Moncrieff got went to the Gold Coast City Council, not to a sporting club (the Mayor Tom Tate is also LNP, coincidence 'eh?), it worked out about $0.93 per capita

South east QLD certainly didn't get as much as North QLD, the exception was Trevor Evans' seat of Brisbane, it got almost as much as Dawson, about $11.32 per person in the seat of Brisbane.

I'm still going through the rest of the states, so far Victoria also looks dodgy @DanTehanWannon managed to get over $1.7 million, $1 million of that went to Northern Grampians Shire Council in two grants.

I thought it was supposed to be for sports clubs??

In the ACT, Woden Valley Gymnastics got two grants of $200,000 each, one in Round 1 and then again in Round 3

I'll keep working on it & keep y'all posted, but it certainly looks like a classic case of pre-election pork-barreling again from the federal govt

Some of these figures & huge disparities just make ya head spin!

I feel sorry for the 618 applicants who missed out for political reasons, many are kids' sports.
