THREAD: Donald Trump is a bad man, and he must lose in 2020. No sane person would disagree with this. But his mere defeat is not the end of this war, not by a long shot. There is so much more to do. #NeuterThePresidency
What Hillary & Trump proved in 2016 was not how capable political candidates are systematically withheld from authority by unchecked privilege of powerful white men—they proved that the real, actual competence of leadership DOES NOT MATTER WHATSOEVER to the American electorate.
I'll save you the time of reading an unnecessary deconstruction of what we all already know: Donald Trump is the purest manifestation of egotism we have ever seen in our lifetime, what should be considered the very worst of human existence. In a sense, true evil.
But this is the harsh reality: we are signing our own death warrants if we let ourselves believe Trump is the worst there possibly could be. Imagine his successors, who now know beyond all doubt how effective his use of fear and anger are on a socially fractured public like ours.
President Obama's only transgression against the voting public was being a black man with the unrepentant audacity to be a better person than most white men believed themselves to be. Immediately after his historic victory, we took even more historic losses.
There is a darkness inside of us as Americans that our #SCROTUS has exploited to great effect. It won't be enough to send our strongest or smartest champion into battle against this monster if we're not fully aware of every aspect of this nightmare we're trying to escape.
Obama's presidency showed us it doesn’t matter how brilliant or inspirational our nominee is--we could still lose all we have worked for because hate is stronger than love, fear is stronger than pride, and there are far fewer good people in the world than we wanted to believe.
We had such hope, such excitement. We endured years of mocking derision of sincere belief in a better world--the vision of a leader so admirable and morally pure he might as well have been a unicorn. Finally, we thought, the arc of the moral universe was bending toward justice.
In 2016 we tried again. We chose the most eminently qualified, capable person to ever seek the office. Confident, sharp, unbreakable. A truly respected public servant with a lifetime of success in a system stacked against good people. It was our moment of glory.

And we lost.
So what egregious mistakes did we make to merit these tragic outcomes? Due to what insufferable hubris did we deserve to be punished in the eyes of the universe? We merely dared to support candidates who tried to take something that white men felt belonged rightfully to them.
The conventional wisdom is that our nom must be anything but a white man. This is exactly backwards. We need someone demographically similar to Trump to nullify the despicable white identity politics he has so gleefully feasted on for years. This is the bleak reality we face:
White men believe they have a rightful place on top of the social hierarchy & are willing to support policies/ideology they KNOW will harm them. They're entirely willing to endure the pain if they believe it will hurt a "lesser" group even more. I know this. They have told me so.
This is the secret code they hear from their fellow leader: "as long as 'those people' are hurt worse, any amount of pain I inflict on you will preserve your status at the top."

As long as it's a white man kicking them around, they'll happily keep paying for his new shoes.
Trump's absurd tariff war with China is an obvious example. White farmers are willing to tolerate senseless financial trauma wrought by an economically illiterate circus clown entirely because he looks like them. This disproves all legitimacy of an "economic anxiety" argument.
Because white men react almost blindly in defense of the one and only goal of protecting their privilege, they are at their strongest when directly confronted (you've been on the internet), and at their weakest when we SUBVERT the unfairly disproportionate power they wield.
I'm not ashamed I'm a white man. I'm disappointed my guiding beliefs (altruism toward the disadvantaged & responsibility to advance the welfare of all people) aren't shared by most others who look like me--so I feel no guilt using my moral & intellectual capacities against them.
The right president for this moment provides the clearest contrast between Trump and themselves. A good leader sets the example & doesn’t need to brag about his achievements or constantly inflate his own perception of himself. Those qualities don't come from one's race or gender.
As appalling as it is, Trump is not the source of the corruption in the Republican party. The corruption is in the very core of their ideology itself & nothing will change unless they are washed out together. It's not enough just to beat Trump. This election needs to HURT THEM.
2016 showed the most important deciding factor in the eyes of the voting public now isn't a candidate's qualifications, fitness for office, professional competence, vision, intellect, or even ideological consistency. It's simply who best plays a convincing "President of America".
Hillary was simply passed over for the role of “US President” by the electorate because she wasn’t magnetically entertaining enough to overcome the unfortunate hurdle of being outside the full-sized, bombastic white male demo voters wanted to see cast in the role after Obama.
That is, the appalling sociopath in the White House didn't need to earn it whatsoever — he simply lucked into it because he was supremely entertaining in the role of “US President” in the fantasy blockbuster the voting public, in their infinite boredom--calls “American History”.
Consider the full gravity of this realization for a moment. Donald Trump won the Presidency because he was more entertaining than Hillary Clinton — full stop.

This is our new reality.

It is absolutely horrifying, but this is our world now, and we must adapt to survive.
There is only one sane path forward. The powers of the President must be separated into two distinct offices according to its core constitutional functions: one as duly elected head of state of our sovereign nation, and one as supreme commander of our immensely powerful military.
Such a campaign to protect us from ourselves is now fully justified as #SCROTUS has proven our electorate possesses such peerless military power we prioritize our ENTERTAINMENT above our own SECURITY. This necessitates permanent separation of all such command from elected office.
This is an extremely necessary action, more consequential than potentially anything we've done before. So let's crank up the heat & consider who might be the ideal candidate for such a sensitive position. Perhaps our legitimate and rightful President that Russia stole from us?
Be honest, despite whatever raving madman makes it his personal mission to desecrate everything we once held dear, if all the while Hillary Clinton was guarding our military secrets, organizing ISIS raids, and locking down our hydrogen bombs, WOULDN'T THE WORLD BE A LOT SAFER?
The plain case for #NeuterThePresidency is to remove the office's limitless capacity to abuse its unchecked power & flaunt the very rule of law.

We can't arrest the President and impeachment is worthless. Therefore, we must remove its 'testicles'--so it stops fucking the world.
