How will I vote? In Liverpool Riverside, it doesn't matter very much: 2017 = 85% for Labour's @LouiseEllman . But elsewhere: just vote against whoever is best placed to defeat Tories & if that means voting for party you wouldn't normally support - lie back and think of Remain
@LouiseEllman Oops - I meant "for" not "against" obviously...

And yes, I recognise I'm very lucky to live in a constituency where the total non-existence of any Tory electoral risk allows me to avoid facing up to other difficult personal/political voting dilemmas.
@LouiseEllman Of course this is a delicate subject. But we need to be realistic. Chance of electing Tory Gov who immediately press ahead with their Hard Brexit? Too high. Chance of electing any Gov that will just "end Brexit now"? Too low. So main goal= stop Tories. Then worry about next steps

Johnson won the election. But he didn't win a majority of the country in his proxy referendum. And worst of all for long term health of UK democracy: his is ultimately a triumph for deliberate, systematic, shameless political dishonesty.

But spilt milk etc. 3 points:
1) Election was called so that Johnson could pass withdrawal deal (could've done anyway) without proper scrutiny (which it deserves & needs).

Also paves way for transitional period - deliberately designed to create accountability gap between leaving EU & its real consequences
2) and yet just when we need scrutiny & accountability of Tories the most, both Labour & LibDems are in disarray / risk internal warfare. Luxuries we can't afford. Those of us who can, will of course do what we can. But we also need strong political & parliamentary leadership.

Pro-Europeans, we will have a new agenda:
1) holding Johnson's Tories to account at every step - lies & broken promises, no scapegoats
2) pushing back against Tory plans to undermine basic values, institutions, relationships
3) growing positive, patient & well-led pro-EU movement
Being positive ain't easy right now. Must admit, I'm struggling against instinct to say to fellow working class, who voted for PM who despises them, party to blame for their problems & policy that will only make it all worse: maybe you deserve to learn your lesson the hard way...
But to borrow wise words from Basil Fawlty: you don't win wars by getting depressed! Or bitter. Not just for ourselves. For the entire UK, inc its most vulnerable, and for the whole of our European family. Now more than ever is the time to defend liberal social market democracy

I couldn't care less how many people voted Tory/what majority the Tories get in the Commons.

Johnson will never be my PM and these Tories will never be my government.

Quite the opposite: if Exit Polls play out, the fight to defend what we care about just got bigger and harder
Johnson set to launch hard right transformation of UK. It's not just Brexit & plans for profound rupture from EU. It's professional dishonesty, Trumpist populism, deregulation, threat to welfare state&human rights, constitutional upheaval, what happens to N Ireland & Scotland...
Conversely: not just EU supporters but all moderates, centrists & leftists need to realise the wideranging dangers posed by Johnson's Tories & coordinate under strong leadership. You can't defend liberal social market democracy when your team spends its energy fighting each other

#TacticalVoting is a good plan, and it was promoted heavily it before the 2017 GE. Here are two seats that the #Conservatives still won. In #RichmondPark, where #Labour are never going to win, they took 5773 votes. Zac Goldsmith won with a majority of 45.
In Hastings and Rye, The LibDems, who were never going to win, took 1885 votes. Amber Rudd won by 346 votes. Had the #LibDems and #Labour stood aside appropriately in these two seats, and told its supporters who to support, there would have probably been more favourable results.
My concern is that, like in 2017, the #TacticalVoting message won't reach everybody. It is a shame that at least one of these parties won't entertain any concept of not standing in some constituencies.

👆I guess it could also be that a group of moderate #Tories (ones on the edge of defection but who didn't) finally grow a pair & vote against it as their 'defection mechanism' (they'd get the boot & end up as INDs or LDs I suppose).

It's much worse than "#Tories don't care about poor people or the #NHS" (Cummings). #Tories actively *hate* poor people and the #NHS.

When Margaret Thatcher let slip the view that "there's no such thing as society" she revealed a key part of #Tory thinking. There 1/4
2/4 are two ways of thinking about ourselves: Either: 1. We're a social animal and we ought to help each other; or 2. We're all disconnected individuals and we should only ever think about what's best for us (& maybe our immediate family). The underlying #Tory mind-set is
3/4 number 2, which is why they actively *hate* and want to destroy the #NHS (which they voted against creating in the first place) because it 'clubs us together' as a group which is the opposite of their "everyone for themselves" attitude. #Tories' policies and short-term

Very interesting thread, and of course absolutely right that Johnson wants power above all. But if he stands on that damn-EU-and-Remain-MPs no-deal platform, what then? It still ends in disaster for him.
Best case scenario, Remainers recognise unique national emergency, hold noses and vote Labour. It’s in fact the surest way for Labour to win power, as opposing no-deal has been Labour’s one absolutely consistent Brexit policy all along.
Imagine the hell of that campaign. The Tories will be inviting us to jump off a cliff and pretending there’s a golden mattress at the bottom of it. A huge tactical voting campaign will begin to ensure that people support whoever is best placed to stop the Tories.

Despite all the evidence, there are those who still deny the severity of #LabourAntisemitism. Here's a thread detailing how institutionalised it truly is...
Starting at the very top with @JeremyCorbyn.

He infamously referred to #Hamas and #Hezbollah as "friends". Both organisations call for the extermination of #Israel, and regularly carry out attacks against #Jews. They're also both officially classified as #terrorist groups.
Perhaps the most well-known incident is #Corbyn's attendance at a wreath-laying ceremony in Tunisia in 2014, which honoured the terrorists who murdered 11 #Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Mr Corbyn claimed to be "present but not involved".
