I don't know why Trump is expecting his troubled finances to completely collapse soon, and neither do you. Could be Putin cut him off. Could be he's expect asset forfeitures in the New York case. Could be a lot of things. But something major is up here.
Trump's stated reason for fleeing New York, that he doesn't want the grand jury getting his state tax returns, makes no sense. He'll have to keep filing in New York anyway. This is about money.
This becomes particularly clear when you consider he's selling off his most profitable hotel for cash. You only do this when your overall cash position has become so bad, and is about to get so much worse, you have no choice but to trade future profits for current cash.
The next thing to watch for is whether Trump decides to sell his stake in Trump Tower. If this is about raising cash to survive asset forfeitures, he'll likely only be able to hang onto one property anyway, and he appears to have just chosen Mar-a-Lago.
