MAGA-nomics 101. When the President throws your media company a bone, it’s important to respond enthusiastically to show your loyalty and affection so he’ll be more likely to throw you another bone another day. 
This is hardly the first time Ben has jumped up and down excitedly, spraying his slobber all over the place, when daddy retweeted something stupid his "media company" produced. In this case, it was something stupid AND racist!
Useful to remember that Ben was a Never Trumper because he's A VERY PRINCIPLED PERSON! And also, I'd forgotten about his shoutout to the other VERY PRINCIPLED PERSON, Ben Domenech...now the editor of the super-MAGA Federalist.
Also useful to remember that Ben argued that any gains a Pres Trump might offer (like SCOTUS judges) wouldn't be worth it. We don't need leaders, we need "the people" to assert their principles. Ben's showing great leadership of that principled movement, eh?
The answer to that rhetorical question is "no." Ben hitched his grifting wagon to Trump pretty darn quickly after he won. And Ben is monetizing that MAGA culture Trump has built with great enthusiasm, offering about as much counter-weight to Trump as good old Susan Collins.
And yet, and yet...our fellow citizens will consume his content and assume that what they are getting is actual political content rooted in consistent principles, rather than purely market-driven edutainment designed to attract MAGA eyeballs and click fingers.
