MCCABE: I was surprised that he said it. It doesn't surprise me that they're continuing their work. I was surprised that he revealed the fact that there was a significant element from the counterintelligence division who were essentially embedded with the special counsel...

McCabe: ...And it certainly makes sense that that [FBI counterintelligence] team would continue to investigate any lingering counterintelligence concerns around the president or anyone in his administration.

McCabe: ...So I'm not surprised that they're doing that (counterintelligence investigation), but I thought it was a pretty interesting reveal on the part of the director (Mueller).

McCabe: ...The true purpose of a counterintelligence investigation is to mitigate a threat to national security, and depending on the circumstances of the [counterintelligence investigation that Mueller testified was still going on] case, that could mean many different things.

Mueller warned both the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees his testimony would be "limited," citing ONGOING investigations and Justice Department policy.

Mueller's testimony on July 24, 2019 on expecting Russia to interfere in the next election:
