We have supported each other through some dark times. When we get together to sing, however we are feeling, the songs demand we take a break from our own heads and move into a shared space. A place where we are not alone.

We lost one of our crew to suicide. I cannot describe the dreadful loss and shock. His Dad sings with us still. He often talks of how our regular meet ups have been, and still are, a major part of his recovery and grieving. It has been horrible to watch him go through it.
We are all closer now than ever and I hope we sing together for many years to come. We never sing for money, even though the offers are growing, we sing for beer, food, or the love of singing. Long may it continue. #MaleMentalHeath #folksong #sussex #seashanties
