2/ One thing Seattle has done well is to not try to be "another Silicon Valley." Every city/region must find its own path to prosperity via differentiation. Yes, there are common elements like a major research university. No, Silicon Valley can't be fully replicated.
The report uses a specific standard for what qualifies as an "innovation job." R&D jobs in key technology categories is the test. Not every tech related worker qualifies under their definition. Every top 10 city has at least one major research university. brookings.edu/research/growt…
