Where have we seen similar campaigns, hmm. Oh, yeah, as a kid yrs ago, I'd bring a dime to class to buy a leaf on the JNF tree. Jewish National Fund has been planting trees in Eretz Yisrael/Palestine for a century.

Every Jewish home had/has a blue charity box for JNF to reclaim the land. In the 1920s, a Jewish work group planted trees at Solomon's Pools near Bethlehem. Today, a lush forest, but Jews cannot go there. THREAD

It's said, Israel's only place on earth that ended the 20th Century with more trees than at the start. Turks were merciless, taking all for their railroad. Hills above Tiberias were so bare, there was nothing to stop big floods in the 1930s. See rare film.

I call on Jordanian & Palestinian leaders to denounce arson against Israeli forests. Gaza fire balloons, Hizbullah fires along northern border (pic), Palestinian fire bombs in communities around Jerusalem.
