@going4golds & I have to produce an alternative Council budget which gets voted on at the 19th February Council meeting
Always welcome ideas on how to improve budget but main focus this time will be on ways to increase our income other than just increasing Council tax again

New development proposed Pepper Street
A resident sent me these pictures from a recent planning consultation in December for a new large residential development on Pepper street above the existing row of shops, 30 storeys high
Opposite the Tesco on Pepper Street

Between Crossharbour DLR station & Pepper St/Glengall Bridge. Would include demolishing Manjal Indian restaurant
Interestingly it had not been more widely advertised so I was not aware of this consultation (although somebody working there did tell me a development was coming)

A story about a powerful corporation 'buying' a favour from a political party & @TowerHamletsNow once again hiding something controversial
In 2014 & 2018 I was elected as Councillor for this area (with orange background), the Local Government Boundary Commission for England

gave it the name of Canary Wharf ward
@CanaryWharfGrp objected to that, they wish to remain separate from rest of the area
Anything bad happening in this area (which I report as Councillor for Canary Wharf ward) affects their brand
But the Commission in 2013 did not agree

Then 2 days before the general election is a General Purposes C'tee meeting about changes to polling districts & polling places
But hidden on page 9, section 3 para 44 was a single sentence which said
'changing the name of Canary Wharf ward to Millwall'

Yesterday I visited the brand new Poplar Works on the east side of the A12 on the north side of Aberfeldy Village next to the old Bromley Hall school. Map here google.com/maps/@51.51264…
It combines training facilities and small workshops of different sizes that you can rent.

The idea is to create a starter home for new small fashion businesses. So that this area of London one day becomes a hub for fashion businesses.
Their goal is to help people and businesses reach their full potential in the fashion industry.

It helps create different types of jobs from those to be found at CW
Similar to what Canary Wharf Group is doing with its Level 39 tech incubator
It is a Poplar Harca project, they funded 50% of the costs
also supported by London College of Fashion & the Mayor of London

Last week #Lithuanian #parliament adopted the state #budget for 2020. The main #financial document of the #state was approved by the majority of voters.
It is sad to see how #Lithuania is #suffering without #money. Absolute #chaos – this is how they say in #Lithuania about the new budget.
So, state budget revenues are planned in the amount of 11.559 billion euros, expenses – 12.705 billion euros.
The budget deficit will amount 2.9% of the planned gross domestic product. In other words, the #Lithuanian #draft hardly met the requirements of #fiscal #discipline. The #budget #deficit for #EU member states should not exceed 3% of GDP.

I'm already nestled in the Hamilton County Commission chambers for today's meeting. Commissioners are expected to to vote on the FY 2020 county budget today - or an alternative.

The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. but chambers already had about two dozen folks in here when I arrived about 15 minutes ago. I've seen several educators mixed in the crowd including some of @hamcoschools chief officers and principals.
The @TimesFreePress has covered this eyar's budget process extensively since Superintendent Bryan Johnson unveiled the schools $443 million budget request in April.

Next Wednesday @CityofVancouver staff report back to #Council on ramping up our #ClimateAction, in line with the #IPCC science and in response to the #ClimateEmergency. Here’s my breakdown of the recommendations 👇
This #ClimateEmergency report outlines 6 Big Moves for Council to direct staff to pursue & come back w. comprehensive/costed plans. Plus 53 Accelerated Actions to move on now. The targets are strong & won’t be easy. This is what governing in line with the science looks like.
Big Move 1: By 2030, 90% of people will live within an easy walk/roll of their daily needs (we’re at 45%). Focused on land-use & complete n'hoods, it would ⬇️ 153,000 tonnes carbon/year, while creating ⬆️ housing choices, ⬆️ social interaction, and supporting local businesses.

This is the type of absolute denial of facts and reality occupying the #MAGA crown. There is no where in America, not one state, where the average gas price is not higher, generally by between 40-50 cents, according to the AAA, not known for faking basic data for partisanship.
The link to where you can see this for yourself is provided. I just looked at all fifty states. No state has longer cost gas today than a year ago. And for this particular statement to be true, the cost would actually need to be approx $1.30-$1.50 cheaper than current averages.
For many places, that would mean it being down by almost 50% or more from the average price. Wherever this half of gas sale is, I’d love to know. So there are two options here: this person lives in the one place in America where gas prices are at $1.75 or so, or they are wrong.
