What links the current spying, denunciation & sanctioning of gender critical opinion with the silencing of dissent under authoritarian regimes?
Gender identity ideology claims "men" & "women" are not defined by physiology, but by an individuals internal, innate sense/feeling.

Many people disagree with gender identity ideology. Dissenters argue that biological sex = an objective, material fact which is of immense political significance for the 52% of the population that is female.

People who dissent with gender identity ideology = ‘gender critics’.

Gender critics reject the socially constructed strictures and norms foisted on the 2 sexes, support the sex-based rights & protections of women/girls, and dispute the notion that sex is a feeling or essence that can be identified into/out of, rather than a biological fact.

Gender identity ideologists outlaw dissent.
They say their ideology is non-debatable, that people who dissent with the ideology are "hateful, bigoted and transphobic", and that all dissent with the doctrine = "hate speech".
They call dissenters “TERFs”.

"TERF" = a dehumanising, misogynistic slur directed at (mostly) women. It is often accompanied with violent threats and/or imagery. It works to silence critical voices/dissent, by intimidating, invalidating and justifying abuse of gender critics.

"TERF" has been acknowledged to be a term of misogynistic abuse by 2 UK courts; by Twitter; by the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee; by the Standards Commision in Scotland; by the All Party Parliamentary Group Report on Hate Crime; and by the Medical Journal of Australia.
