We know that everyone has lots of questions about #coronavirus.

Here’s a thread with more detail 🔽

We have confirmed 2 cases of coronavirus in England.

They have been transferred to a specialist infection unit in Newcastle where they are being cared for.

Risk to the public has not changed as a result.

We’ll continue to be posting updated testing figures at 2pm each day.

This afternoon, a flight has landed in the UK with British nationals from Wuhan.

These passengers will now be transferred to an off-site NHS accommodation facility.

They have all agreed to spend 14 days in supported quarantine. Families will be able to stay together.

Risk to the public has not changed as a result.

They will have access to a team of specialist medical staff who will closely monitor their condition.

They will be regularly assessed for symptoms as a precaution.

Individuals will also be provided with fully furnished rooms, food, WiFi, toys and games for children, and laundry facilities.

This package of support will be provided free of charge by the government.

Any individual who develops symptoms on the flight, during transfer or at the accommodation facility will be assessed and transferred to appropriate NHS care facilities.

Our priority is to make sure the UK public is safe.

These individuals returning from Wuhan are being quarantined as a precaution and we’re putting every effort in place to ensure their comfort and well-being.

If you have returned from wider mainland China in the last 14 days and have symptoms, self-isolate at home and call 111.
