Kabiru Sokoto, you all remember him, abi. He was a member of Boko Haram who detonated the bomb which chattered a Catholic Church in Suleja, claiming life of many innocent Nigeria. He was arrested, detained and awaiting trial. A Commissioner of Police by name Zakari Biu from Bornu
state allegedly released him and claimed he escaped. Kabiru Sokoto was later rearrested, prosecuted and convicted. After thorough investigation into his release, Zakari Biu was dismissed front the police for being culpable. PMB took over govt. Reinstate Zakari Biu.
Restore his ranks and retire him. This is how the war against insurgency has been going on!

2am they invaded homes of Judges in commando like raid, ransacked their bedrooms and abducted them. At first they thought they were armed robbers.

They invaded the Enugu home of Innocent Chukwuma, CEO Innoson auto manufacturing company.
They whisked him away, traumatized his family, but was unable to dig up dirt to hang him.

They invaded the hallowed chamber of the senate.

They again invaded the senate chambers using one senator Omo-agege as front.
They invaded the govt house residence of ex governor Ayodele Fayose, of Ekiti state, while in office and brutalized him. Then the military invaded the family home of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kalu, killing many. Till date it's still unclear how he escaped death himself that time.

In the past six months, ISWAP has launched a blitzkrieg across Northeastern Nigeria, attacking the army some 40 times, capturing more than a dozen of the most heavily defended bases and looting what the UN calls a “massive” trove of heavy weaponry.
This has happened on the eve of Nigeria’s presidential election, one of the worlds largest experiments in democracy. The attacks have stunned Nigeria’s top commanders and sapped the morale of its troops.

2007: Maj Gen Joseph Ayango #Aondo (rtd) was #killed in the federal capital, #Abuja, 14 June 2007. He had been chairman of the political campaign group, #Yar'Adua Associates, was seized at the entrance to his house, driven 5km on the Kubwa expressway, then shot dead in his car.

Some of the core drivers of the religio-political violence in #Nigeria are failures to harmonise religious, political & civic impulses. I will try to summarise and discuss some of them here. #NotAnotherNigerian @QuilliamOrg
1. #Nigeria is a civic state, with much devout religious practice, mainly Christian and Muslim. Religious loyalty should not undermine civic loyalty, but sometimes does. Eg should Muslims be concerned about the 'ummah' & Christians about fellow believers only? #NotAnotherNigerian
2. The #Nigerian state apparatus, including the legal system, is heavily influenced by Britain. The Muslim areas used to have traditional Sharia, and were part of the Sokoto Caliphate. Sharia always had many interpretations: many of these were civic in nature. #NotAnotherNigerian
