A thread on #JameelaJamil : So last year @jameelajamil reached out to me to be on her show @i_weigh I thought okay.. not sure how this will go since I don’t position myself as part of the body positive movement so I figured I would talk about body positivity being co-opted.

@jameelajamil @i_weigh Now, we are on Whitney Houston’s free internet and you can google #RoseMcgowans transphobic rants and insincere apologies- I’ll leave you to that. But, me as a (a person period!) Queer and non-binary person am not going be on a show that features a transphobic person.

@jameelajamil @i_weigh To my non surprise, I was met with a long email gaslighting me to believe that #RoseMcgowan deserved a second chance. That we need to hear each other out and “not throw people away” Reminder: #RoseMcgowan is a white cis woman - she is and will be fine.

newsflash: You can be queer and TRANSPHOBIC. A transphobic apologist should NOT be the executive producer along with two white cis men for a show on ballroom

exchange: “you were just a voice I wanted to elevate I have access to enough powerful and impressive people to not need any props”

@jameelajamil @i_weigh And this is the issue, people with this “I wanna give a voice” infantilizing anti Black hogwash- if you want to give a voice to the voiceless SHUT THE FUCK UP. MOVE ASIDE. STOP SPEAKING “OVER THEM”

Ballroom does NOT need #JameelaJamil. #JameelaJamil needs ballroom to convince
