Just for added context, Holger Hestermeyer is currently employed to write about trade deals, and Andrew Neil is a journalist. If journalists keep making comments to the whole world using sloppy terminology, they can't complain when they are pulled up.
It's important to remember that Andrew Neil is not a trade expert of any discernible kind, and uniquely refers to the Most Favoured Nation clause as: Most Mutually and Favourable Standards.
I'm not kidding, I googled it and "what's called" has only even been "called" it once.
Also, citing Andrew Lilico, who is seemingly a parody account that met up with a talking cricket before being made a real boy, does him no favours here.

@anandMenon1 As far as I know, food margins are low, and so the farmers and fisherman have to rely basically on mass sales. This means there is a lot of effort and it doesn’t necessarily result in a big return to the wider economy.

Well Eyjafjallajökull looks pretty stable, but since eruptions of Katla tend to follow eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull...unless our government want to endanger our citizens...this doesn't look like a great idea.

(Don't underestimate the negative trade effect of the last ash cloud)
There are countless other reasons why this is a bad idea, but Katla is the one that a trade person would know about and an economist like Tim Leunig probably wouldn't think twice about.
He can be super intelligent and really good with a slide rule, but unless his calculations have taken into account what happens if there is a massive disruption to air trade based on tectonic movements, let's not leave this to an algorithm?

Along with a reminder that the Commission don't have the authority to say what type of deal is available without sign off from the member states.

A tiny process requirement that our government appears to have forgotten after spending just 45 years in the organisation.
The slide in the centre of the controversy is very EU centric. Not every trade person I've spoken to realised this was breaking down templates, but from how I learnt about trade deals, this was crystal clear.
If anything I was shocked to find out that some people in trade didn't fully recognise the EU templates as being a 'thing', or at least, technically different enough to be considered generational.

The belief is EU suppresses trade with the Commonwealth. Don't know, once you exclude individual negotiations with Canada/Aus/India, that the EU gives most of the Commonwealth tariff-free access to the EU. Instead, leave means going backwards.

The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
