Despite having the upperhand in Syria, Erdogan surrenders in Moscow; a ceasefire on Assad forces has been reached, Rebels told to withdraw from Idlib's south, the north will be used as a "safety corridor". None of Turkey's initial demands to push Assad passed the Sochi lines met.
The good news, Turkey has proven beyond doubt that the northern safety corridor in Idlib will be protected, millions of residents will at the very least have somewhere to hide from Assad's genocide. The bad news is it creates a Gaza type situation. An open-air concentration camp.
Despite Turkey's disappointing decision; what they did in the last week is appreciated and most any country has done for Syria and the victims of Assad in 9 years. Turkey acted, if not briefly, while the world simply watched. Unknown how this will affect Erdogan domestically.
If military actions are ceased on Assad, the only means left to remove him are irregular. A new sense of hope has been given to fighters and underground resistance cells throughout regime-held areas. The last week may have created a new phase to the war.
