Breaking: Reports that #King #Salman of #Saudi_arabia Arabia has died (still unconfirmed), which may explain Crown Prince’s arrests of other royal family members. If true, will pave way for a very different-looking Saudi Arabia.
2)King #Salman ruled since 2015. His son, crown prince Mohammad bin Salman, has already been the de facto ruler of #Saudia_Arabia for years & holds immense power. He is loved by younger citizens but feared by fellow royals. Expect to see resistance by other royal family members
3) MBS is considered a tyrant by many, crushing those who oppose him, as seen with the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi (which he was behind). He has also leaned hard into a deadly military campaign against the #Houthis in #Yemen, fueling a devastating humanitarian disaster.

1)The #PeacePlan unveiled yesterday by #Trump & #Netanyahu is absurd. Nearly all key elements presented as measures of stability are actually antagonistic to #Palestinians. Cont’d settlements will further incite more extreme contingents to carry out attacks on Jewish Israeli soil
2)A peace deal, ANY deal, requires a DIALOGUE between involved parties, in this case Palestinian & Israeli leadership- not a list of orders penned by the US. Not to mention, Trump's son-in-law goes on TV expressing hope that Palestinians weren't "screwing up another opportunity"
3)Palestinian leadership not consulted in this "deal," showing fractured relationship #PresidentTrump has dev'd with its peoples. As concession for all territorial disputes going Israel's way, Trump offers $50b in unsourced funds. Someone tell him this is not a real estate deal.

1)An #AQAP leader was killed via U.S. drone strike in Wadi Ubaidah district of #Marib #Yemen, according to Yemeni news reports. The Wadi Ubaidah area is known as a long-standing stronghold for AQ militants in the country. Name of the leader was not stated.
2)Will be interesting to see which #AQAP official warranted the intel & military resources required to carry out a precise U.S. drone attack...AQAP in recent years has dwindled. As it stands now, top publicly known officials are leader Qassim al-Rimi and official Ibrahim al-Qosi.
3)Breaking: It appears that Qasim al-Rimi, leader of the Yemen-based #AQAP, was the individual targeted & killed in a U.S. drone strike on Saturday, January 25 in Wadi Ubaidah, east of #Sanaa - a longtime stronghold for the group. AQAP has yet to officially confirm his death.

I’ve been writing about repression of women in #Saudi Arabia for 16yrs. I lived there during my teens & was traumatized into feminism there, I wrote a column for a Saudi-owned paper for 2yrs & was then banned, I devoted a chapter in my 1st book to it. We have a long relationship.
The unprecedented crackdown on women’s rights activists must be seen for what it is: an attempt to erase cross-generational feminist activism in #Saudi Arabia. The detained feminists and women’s rights activist are leaders of a social revolution that terrifies the #Saudi monarchy When this decade began, there was no political revolution in Saudi Arabia like those in Tunisia, Egypt and other countries of the “Arab Spring.” But a social revolution has begun now in Saudi Arabia.<br /> <br /> Its vanguard is not a crown prince who claims to be an emancipator of women. The true leaders are the feminists he has detained and banned from travel for daring to demand their freedom.
