I just want to make a couple of comments about the Stimulus packages under the Rudd government and how they were taken by the Press and also the coalition Government. Oh and I want to say also that anything I say in here I have analysed using the ABS data.
Firstly the GFC happened very very Quickly (within a Month) but that was easy to see with aftersight So it was a great idea to go early and go hard. Some of the Economic pundits weren't worth their expensive services. The rating Agencies for instance. Praised Lehman Bros one min
And the next minute they had closed down. A huge closure and they didn't pick it either. The Coalition proceeded to take the piss out of Kevin Rudd and the Labor party big time, blowhards like Hockey and Morrison and Abbott (remember him?) leading the charge. If you don't believe
me then go and read the record of parliament at the time (The Hansard). They relentlessly told the Australian public how silly and wasteful the stimulus package was and they were scathing about it. Guess what, they kept us out of recession because they created two major projects
which increased employment and put money into the economy. Those two projects were the Insulation scheme and the School halls program. Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows that in 2010 those schemes created 534500 new jobs and at the same time reversed the underemployment
trend which had started under John Howard's government and they didn't see coming. Not only did those schemes create that amount of jobs, the Labor government also gave money to one of the largest cohorts of people in the Australian Economy as a one off payment.
The Coalition (Including the woke people like Morrison, Hockey and Abbott) also took the piss out of this because some of the payments went to dead people. The Majority was well received by the pensioners and was consumed and demand for goods sold by Business increased which is
what the one off payments were supposed to do. That was on top of a measure the Labor party had done as well, nothing to do with the GFC and that was increase pensions. So double stimulus and about 4 million pensioners feeling looked after by their government. So lets contrast
the Coalition and their response to Social justice generally. In 2013 Abbott came to power resting on a huge set of Lies. Watch the video and then contrast what is happening today with Morrisons announcement which will soon become clear in the thread.
Remember the 2014 "Horror" budget, brought down by the Economic illiterate Joe Hockey? where he threw the unemployed, the ABC, SBS and pensioners under a huge bus. Luckily it was deemed too harsh and had to be moderated somewhat. remeber the rhetoric.
"The Age of entitlement is over"? Well that is the government the people voted in based on the carbon Tax lie and the lies of no changes to......everything. So what actually happened? Well the ABC lost a swag of funding and had to retrench. Responsible minister Turnbull. Next
The Pensioners had too much money and in the 2015 budget Morrison increased the taper rate to $3.00 from $1,50 and kept the deeming rate high. I modeled it and estimated (conservatively) that he placed 400,000 pensioner under the poverty line. What in effect he did was say
people with assets that they had worked for all their lives and paid taxes on the wages/salaries they earned, were not allowed to have a caravan (it's and asset), a boat (it's an asset) have household furniture (it's an asset) otherwise they would have their pension reduced. They
couldn't earn money from these "assets" because they are not real money but the government and Morrison deemed them so. Oh and I said conservatively because I didn't include living costs in my Model. ACOSS had already put out a Poverty report saying that
17% of Pensioners in Australia were already living under the poverty line so this extra 400,000 took it to over a Million Pensioners living under the Henderson Poverty line. Don't believe my Model? Then look at the OECD report a year after the changes and they said EXACTLY the
the same. Now lets turn to Disabled people and the Disability Support Pension. The Coalition tried to run the story that there were too many of them and in 2005 Costello (another rent a smirk person) called them the people with the bad backs. A veiled reference to Mediterranean
back, a perjorative racist slur about our immigrant friends from Europe no doubt. However I love Data and the published data on "Characteristics of Disability support pension recipients" showed that the majority of Australias were the ones on the DSP, not only that but
those reports also consistently showed that the people (30%) of people with Musculo Skeletal and connective problems were of an older age group and were of Australia descent. Curiously these reports which actually refuted the Coalition lies ceased after 2013.
The point being that the coalition redefined the disability tables and made it impossible to get a Disability pension. Lets turn to another great Labor initiative, the national Insurance disability Scheme, no only social justice but taught by all religions to
"do as you would be done by" Yet we learned recently that the NDISD had been underfunded by $4.3 Billions and that people who should not have been suffering are and will be for a while, yet there is a trough to be had for the suppliers to feed from. lastly lets look at the way
the coalition view the people who are out of work. With disdain would be an understatement. look at the Stats and you will see that there are not enough jobs for the people who are Unemployed and that other Bat in the Belfry, Underemployment is flapping it's wings again.
The way these unfortunate people are vilified by the Coalition with the rhetoric of "have ago and you will get a go" bullshit is abhorrent to any ordinary Australian of any religion. The rate condemns them to live in Poverty without the help of their immediate family and/or
friends. And so we come to todays stimulus package, where Morrison is going to give away (as if it's his own money) $4.7 Billions in a one off payment to 6.5 million people......the very people he has treated like dirt for the majority of the coalitions 7 years in office.
He expects these 6.5 million abused people to pull his nasty and mean government out of the shit that they have dug themselves into by spending a portion of the money he took from them over the last 7 years. Give me a flipping break. End of Rant.
